In a city that attracts minorities, the Koga family—a Deaf father and younger brother who have lived there for years—find themselves in conflict with a newly arrived Kurdish family due to a minor misunderstanding. Natsumi, the Koga family's only hearing daughter, and Hiwa, the only Kurdish family member who speaks Japanese, are brought in as interpreters for their respective families. The two gradually become drawn to each other, but the conflict between their families only deepens. One day, a doodle drawn by Shun, the Koga family's younger brother, escalates the small dispute into an issue that engulfs the entire city.
