Home Video Presentation
Come and witness the daily lives of Deaf individuals, their conversations with family, and scenes of their lives, all expressed through sign language. This special screening event will showcase the natural living culture of Deaf individuals through home videos from people with ties to Suginami Ward. This project is a collaboration with Metote Lab's "Archive Project," which aims to preserve the natural living culture born from sign language. Through extensive research and dialogue, we've explored how to pass down Deaf lives and culture to future generations. On the day of the event, we won't just be showing rare home videos; we'll also welcome the individuals featured in the videos as guests. Together with the audience, we'll watch the footage and share memories and the background of those moments. Would you like to experience the often unseen reality of Deaf life?

Metote Lab
Metote Lab is a project dedicated to creating co-creative spaces where everyone can start from their "self." We build "homes" (hubs) from a broad perspective, including the environment, systems, and spatial design. Implemented as part of the "Tokyo Art Point Project," we are exploring expressions and spaces that originate from the senses and language fostered within visual language (Japanese Sign Language).
About the Tokyo Art Point Project
The Tokyo Art Point Project is an initiative developed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Arts Council Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture in collaboration with NPOs that support local communities. Its goal is to create various "art points" that generate new values and creative activities for society. Through experimental art projects, the initiative strives to build relationships that enrich individual lives and create systems that foster creative activities. It also implements the "Tokyo Metropolitan Government & Ward/City/Town/Village Collaboration Project," co-hosting cultural events with local municipalities.
In collaboration with the JR East Urban Development Corporation - Asagaya/Koenji Project
The "Asagaya/Koenji Project" is to create "a railway underpass you want to walk under" and lends out warehouse space along the railway underpass to local residents.
